Common causes of kitchen sink clogs
Kitchen sink clogs usually build up from what goes down the sink during everyday cooking and washing up. Food debris left on plates and in pans can collect in the kitchen drain, especially when it is washed down in large amounts. Soap residue can also build up on the inside of the kitchen drain over time, narrowing the space water can pass through. A kitchen sink that drains slowly after every meal, rather than blocking all at once, often has this kind of gradual buildup.
Grease is another common kitchen cause: cooking fat poured down the sink can harden on the pipe wall and narrow the drain, which is why a kitchen sink can keep slowing down even after a blockage is cleared through. See Grease Clog Removal for the full grease explanation.
